Building a Better Future for Veterans

Operation Tiny Home's Building a Better Future for Veterans Program empowers transitioning veterans through hands-on construction and tiny home building workshops, fostering personal growth, career opportunities, and a sense of community.

Empowerment Through Skills: Designed for veterans at any stage of their civilian journey, our program offers a unique blend of hands-on construction trades and tiny home building skills. It's more than just training; it's a gateway to personal growth, empowerment, and rediscovering a sense of purpose.

Comprehensive Workshops: Our expanded series of workshops provides hands-on training in various construction trades, including plumbing, electrical work, general contracting, HVAC, and finish carpentry. Participants gain valuable skills, opening up multiple career opportunities and addressing the critical need for skilled workers in the trades industry.

Impact Beyond Careers: The impact of our program extends far beyond individual careers. It strengthens the trade sector, introduces innovative construction practices, and promotes sustainable and affordable housing solutions like tiny homes. Participants build a sense of community and camaraderie, forging lasting connections and a supportive network. Through our partnerships, we support our participants in creating the right career training and job placement for them, ensuring a seamless transition into their chosen trade and a successful future in the civilian workforce.

Symbols of Hope: The tiny homes created through our program are symbols of hope, resilience, and a commitment to a better future. Each home donated to individuals and families facing housing instability is a tangible result of our participants' hard work and dedication, reminding them of their positive impact on the world.

Get Involved: Whether you're a veteran looking to learn new skills, a supporter eager to contribute to a meaningful cause, or someone who wants to spread the word about this life-changing opportunity, your involvement can make a significant impact. Together, let's build a better future for our veterans, one tiny home at a time.

Community and Connection: Join a community of like-minded individuals who share your experiences and aspirations. Our program fosters a supportive environment where veterans can connect, collaborate, and build lasting relationships, all while working towards a common goal of creating a better future for themselves and others.

"I see tiny houses as a powerful tool; once a person has a good understanding of how homes are constructed as well as proficient knowledge on the use of the tools required, they not only have a valuable skill-set that can create new job opportunities, but also a pathway to creating one's own affordable housing solution." - Zack Giffin, A&E TV Series Tiny House Nation Co-Host, Operation Tiny Home Board Member.

Discover what past participants of our Building A Better Future for Veterans workshops have to say about their experiences:

I learned so much in such a short time frame. I was able to participate at my own pace and there was always a wide variety of areas to keep everyone interested. I was able to always get all of my answers to any questions. I was a novice in so many ways but being in an environment where you felt welcomed and everybody was interested in giving all they had was phenomenal. Even with all the hard work the atmosphere created was infectious and you did not want to leave at the end of each day!
— — G. Lewis, Oklahoma Workshop Attendee
Learned a lot, met a great group of people, and did something that will make a difference in someone’s life. We did something beautiful for a person that deserves to know that there are people who care and love them. So rewarding.
— — R. Cranely, Racine Workshop Attendee
This workshop was a game changer for me. I feel like I got flipped upside down and turned inside out. The Operation Tiny Home team was absolutely incredible. They all took the time to teach me, grow me, challenge me, feed me, and love me.
— — M. Sheehan, Oklahoma Workshop Attendee
I have been to two workshops and have learned so much. The camaraderie at these workshops reminds me so much of my military days. The fact that with each build we have one less veteran off the street makes it that much better.
— N. Chapa, San Antonio & Oklahoma Workshop Attendee
I did a build in Oklahoma just recently with Zack and it absolutely rocked. I learned bunches and all for a good cause. You’ll have fun while you learn and while you help out a veteran!!
— A. Hickey, Oklahoma Workshop Attendee
Operation Tiny Home is a class act that exceeded all my expectations. David and I can’t say enough good things. We are still talking about it.
— — C. Re-Fowlkes, San Antonio Workshop Attendee
The joy I received and the friendships I made were beyond my expectation!
— E. Toney, Oklahoma Workshop Attendee
The pace of the workshop was great for instructional. The professionals were clear and concise with instruction blocks, and were supportive while we learned.
— — T. Cupid, Orlando Workshop Attendee
Zack took his time to instruct newcomers and made everybody feel welcome. He explained the steps necessary to accomplish the build and I enjoyed seeing from the beginning how a house comes together.
— — I. Cotto, Orlando Workshop Attendee
I did an Operation Tiny Home workshop with Operation Tiny Home in WI. You will learn something. Zack is the real deal.
— — R. LaHue, Racine Workshop Attendee
I like building stuff and helping fellow veterans and I got to do that and it was a lot of fun.
— — C. Galusha, San Antonio Workshop Attendee
I enjoyed meeting and interacting with everyone. Neither Zack nor other experts ever made me feel “stupid” or acted impatient with questions. This was truly an experience to remember.
